What We Do

At The Body Mechanics, we focus on Orthopedic/Medical Massage (better known as Orthopedic Manual Therapies) that have been proven to be effective in reducing pain and symptoms associated with specific injury or specific medical conditions.  We are Health Care Professionals and your treatments are in a clinical setting with clinical evaluations and Medical Manual Therapy Techniques that yield proven results.

When you come to The Body Mechanics, we develop a treatment plan specific to you and your condition/issue.  We begin every treatment plan with a thorough medical history and complete movement and balance assessments.  This gives us a base line from which to work as well as a point from which we can improve. We focus to improve your range of motion, improve your posture, improve your quality of life.  Intake and baseline evaluations consist of a combination of verbal conversation, visual and digital postural assessment, ROM assessment,  and/or movement assessment.

Integrated Health Care

Your Body Mechanics Team feels strongly about multidisciplinary approaches, and that all of the clients health care team should work together for the benefit of the client.

We welcome guidance and interaction with your Physician, Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer, Chiropractor, Nutritionist, Acupuncturist, Yogi, Pilates Instructor, Personal Trainer or to whomever you entrust your healing.  After all, there are many paths up the same mountain.

THE PRACTICE

Latest Clinic News:

COVID-19 And Clinic Reopening News:

There is a lot of division as to whether or not Massage Therapist, Cosmetologists etc should
Or should not be working. Without getting too political, I firmly believe that even when the governing bodies give the ok to reopen this is a highly personal decision, with many factors to take into account.

With regards to reopening The Body Mechanics. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations has issued a statement that says clients with a medical need, including a doctor or chiropractor letter of referral for massage is allowed. Massage for any other purpose, including general wellness is not permitted at this time. Even though, this is a medical massage practice, I am not confident in our understanding of the disease process of COVID-19 to believe that massage is safe for clients who may be asymptomatic, and can be done without a risk of harm.

I personally believe that the choice to take that risk should be up to the individual, but also feel a large responsibility to be able to inform you as the client of what risks you may be taking. Currently, the largest risk from my perspective that we don’t fully understand, is the threat of blood clots. Blood clots have always been treated as a contraindication for massage. Meaning, a very real threat to the clients health that massage can further aggravate. Where we are currently is, in my opinion a danger zone where we know the issue with clotting is real but we don’t understand anything about it, or how to recognize who may be in danger. Personally, I cannot think of a worse position to be in as a person who has dedicated my career to improving the health and quality of life of individuals than to unknowingly aggravate symptoms that may lead to stoke, cardiovascular event or pulmonary embolism to name a few potential complications. For this reason, I am patiently waiting on a better understanding of the disease, as well as paying attention to the places where they are allowing massage to reopen to see what happens, before I consider taking appointments.

As a word of reassurance, as many have reached out. It is killing me, knowing you are in pain, and I cannot help, at this time. I am currently immersed in following the science, and pathophysiology of this disease including its risk factors and treatments so that I can offer the most efficient therapy within my ability to help my clients. Information is moving extremely quickly regarding this disease, and by next week, there will likely be more answers to these questions. Each day that passes is one day closer to reopening, and I truly believe we are within weeks of a graduated reopening process, that will serve to offer the highest, informed care that keeps my clients safe and aids in the improving over all health.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone soon. Stay well.

Meet Our Team
Chelsa Connolly, BS in Kinesiology, Licensed Massage Therapist -Instructor, Licensed Athletic Trainer

My background and specialty are with musculoskeletal injuries and pain management through a biomechanics and science based approach.

Prior to beginning this massage therapy practice, I worked from January 2013 to August 2016 at Panola College to establish athletic training for the athletic department. In addition to my training and skills as a massage therapist I have extensive experience in actively participating with health care teams to provide a goal oriented, high level of care for the individuals I am working with.

I have completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a focus in Athletic Training and advanced clinical training in massage therapy in techniques relating to myofascial release as well as specific deep tissue massage focused to improve efficiency of movement. I believe in life-long learning and continually work to better my knowledge and skills.

While I will not be practicing any athletic training, my background in the profession has shaped my thinking process to evaluate techniques with a critical eye to research and evidence based models. I will be working to pursue certifications which will allow me to include corrective exercise personal training specialties into my massage practice
I enjoy getting to know individuals and helping them to establish their goals and ultimately achieve them.
